Comparison Between Two Colleges
WALSH UNIVERSITY
Pros: · Overall a nice campus · Dorm rooms are decent size
- They have their own bathroom and shower
- Even though it is super small it is still nice · People are very nice · Has one of the top nursing programs in the nation · It is around a lot of different places · Close to town · Good neighborhood · Good Sports Programs · Overall very clean · Nice classrooms · Good foodJ · Close to home
Cons: · Expensive · Very small campus · Seems to strict of a college · Small cafeteria · I feel that not being Catholic I won’t fit in. (Walsh is a Catholic School)
COLLEGE OF WOOSTER
Pros: · Small college but is spread out · Very nice · Clean · Huge library · Very nice classrooms · Large variety of food · Big cafeteria · Seems like people know how to have a good time · A lot of study groups · They have a bowling alleyJ · Good sports program · Close to home

WALSH UNIVERSITY VS. THE COLLEGE OF WOOSTER
I have visited two colleges so far which is Walsh University and The College of Wooster. I plan on visiting Findlay very soon. The first college that I visited was Walsh. My mom’s friend is an Alumni of Walsh and they said that she had the best time of her life there. At this point I was very excited to see what it was all about. As soon as I arrived, I fell in love with the campus and its surroundings. There were many pros and cons as you can see listed above in the table. The campus was extremely small. There was only about five major buildings plus all the dorm buildings. The classrooms were very nice and clean, as well as all the buildings. Walsh’s dorm rooms were decent size and came with a small shower and toilet. The sink was in the room with a mirror. I really liked the set up. I don’t like the fact that at most other schools you have to share showers and bathrooms with the floor you’re on or the dorm building you are in. I felt like I could eventually feel like being at home spending a lot of time in their dorm rooms. I also like the sports facilities; the gym is brand new as of this year. The professors seemed really nice and are always willing to help you if you need it at any time. I also really liked the fact that they have one of the top nursing programs in the nation and that is what I plan on doing; nursing, pharmacy, or forensic science. Walsh is somewhat expensive but sometimes you have to just look past the expense and hope for scholarships. Approximately $32,000
The second college that I visited was Wooster. I remember going with a friend last year on a visit and really liked it, so I figured I would look more into it. Even though it was a D 1 school and very small, the campus was very spread out which I liked. The library was very big and had its own rooms for study groups. The dorm rooms there were fairly small but still had a nice set up. Their classrooms were very nice and my tour guide said that the professors will be there for you if you ever need help and that they will answer any questions that you have. The sports facility was not as new as Walsh’s but it was still nice. Wooster was also in a nice neighborhood and was near a lot of stuff. It was not out in the middle of nowhere. They had a huge cafeteria and amazing food! This is always a good thingJ . Wooster didn’t focus on what I wanted to major in as much as Walsh did so I was kind of iffy about that. Wooster is also a very expensive school, but then again what school isn’t these days? Approximately $40,000
Overall the school I liked the most was Walsh. The good thing about both of them is that they are both close to homeJ.
What is your food really made from?
-Food Inc. When I first read the back of the DVD cover to this movie I already knew it was going to be graphic. I also knew that they were going to tell me some interesting facts that I didn’t want to hear about and of course, they did. I saw some things I didn’t want to see. I’m one of those people that don’t really think about what they eat before they eat it. Of course food industries don’t want us to hear what really happens to all the food because they know we will think twice about eating it and buying their product. I learned that being healthy isn't always cheap and dont always believe everything that the food industries have to tell you. It's not easy making healthy decisions, especially after watching this movie.
USING GOOGLE READER:
Google Reader is like another organization tool. It shows me what I have been doing. Google reader is like a favorites bar on your internet. It also can be used to tell your history, like what you have been doing daily. If you forget what you have done, you can easily go to google reader and search what you need to find out.
Using Delicious:
When I first heard of delicious I had no clue what it was about, or even how to use it. Delicious is an easy way to bookmark things. Especially sites that you go to quite often. This is also an organization tool. I am sure many teachers use this for teacher assist, some of their youtube videos they use to show their students and just different sites that interest them. For students you can use delicious to bookmark facebook, myspace, e-mail, and even college sites that you are interested in going to. So with that being said, delicious is a very helpful and beneficial tool.
Visiting a House of Worship other than my own:
I am currently attending Journey church with my mom and step dad very frequently. We try to attend every Sunday. Journey Church is a very up-beat and social church that has three different services since it is always crowded. Many people attend from all different age groups. Each service starts off with a praise and worship and also begins the service with a few different songs. I like Journey a lot because there are people that go there that are in my age group. Honestly, church can be boring sometimes but at Journey I never seem to get bored.
One Sunday evening I went to CCF, also know as the "blue church" or Christian Community Fellowship. I attended this church with my grandparents. As soon as I walked in I could already tell that it was something I was used too. When the service started, I noticed there wasn't a lot of younger kids/students there. They also didn't sing as much as Journey Church did. Both churches had great services they were just two totally different atmospheres. No matter what church you attend, you are still praising the Lord which is the most important thing.
Fossil Fuels:
A huge global issue today is dealing with Fossil Fuels and the burning of Fossil Fuels. Fossil Fuels are "incompletely oxidized and decayed animal and vegetable materials, specifically coal, peat, lignite, petroleum and natural gas." Approximately 90 percent of the world's electricity is produced from the use of fossil fuels. The combustion of fossil fuels is considered to be the largest providing factor to the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. By converting fossil fuels to energy comes with a lot of harmful outcomes such as, air pollution, water pollution, accumulation of solid wastes and many more. It's obvious that these things are not good for our environment.
Attending a Board meeting:
The board meeting starts at 7:00 pm and it starts off by everyone saying the pledge. When you first walk in you are handed a board agenda packet. The president of the meeting then calls the roll to make sure everyone is in attendance.
My thoughts on the meeting:
I figured the meeting was going to be a lot longer. It only last about 40 minutes. There wasn't as many people there as I thought there would be. I'm sure there is more people when there is a specific issue that is being talked about. These meetings take place usually once every month. The board metting is usually held in the middle school cafeteria or the library. I found that sitting in on a board meeting and listening to one, ends up being pretty interesting. This also helps keep people updated and informed on what is going on at our school. I also learned a lot of new things that will be happening next year such as...
1. Class courses being changed
2. More blogging classes
3. New coaches and Teacher positions
4.Possibly a trip to china next year when taking a flex credit
